A Foundation Built on Family and Values

Omar Habbas was born in Los Angeles, California, and is the youngest of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Issa Habbas. His father served as a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and, after service, opened up several businesses in the Los Angeles area while his wife raised five children and worked part-time to help support his family. His parents celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2013.

A Family Legacy in the Making

Omar is married to Rio Habbas and is the proud father of three children, Tarik Habbas, Alexandria Habbas, and Nicholas Habbas.

Tarik completed his undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University in June of 2013 and received a B.S. in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree in law from Santa Clara University School of Law in May of 2016 and went on to practice with the law firm of Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer in Oakland, California, in the field of Employment Law. In April 2019, he joined Habbas & Associates, and he is now a partner in the firm.

Alexandria Habbas graduated from Santa Clara University in June of 2014 and has been employed by Facebook for over 10 years. She now serves in the capacity of a project manager.

Nicholas Habbas graduated from Santa Clara University School of Business in 2022 with a B.S. Degree in Finance. He graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in May 2025, took the July 2025 bar exam and passed, and was sworn in by Judge Manoukian on January 6, 2026. Nicholas is an associate attorney at the Habbas Law firm.

Education and the Beginning of a Legal Career

Omar was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1961. In 1982, he received a BA in History from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1985. Omar joined the Law Offices of William McCann and became a junior partner in 1987, until he formed his own law firm in 1988.

Discipline Beyond the Courtroom

Omar enjoys traveling, and physical fitness plays a very important role in his life. He wrestled during his years in High School and has a passion for weightlifting. He participated in bodybuilding competitions in his early years (having won 1st place overall in the Teenage West Coast Bodybuilding Competition held in the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts) and 1st place in his weight group in the Mr. Santa Cruz Competition. He continues to train and weight lift 6 days a week.

Giving Back to the Community

Charitable contributions remain an integral part of Omar’s life. He contributes significantly to family shelter organizations, the homeless, educational institutions (including Santa Clara University, Santa Clara School of Law, San Jose State University, San Jose State Athletics Dept, Sobrato High School, and St. Mary’s College), San Jose Police Foundation, Kick Childhood Cancer, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Leukemia Society, Oakland Genesis Soccer, Family Giving Tree, The Human Society of Silicon Valley, San Jose Animal Care Center, and many other causes.

Omar takes personal pride in helping people and making a difference in someone else's life. He also sits on the Board of Visitors of Santa Clara University Law School and, in November 2016, was invited by the school to serve as a director of the advisory group to the Dean of the law school.
